Sifu Joe Keit
Sifu Joe Keit is proud to serve as a Firefighter/ Paramedic and also is very proud to have been a successful Kung Fu instructor for over 20 years. Even though he has accomplished much in his career, Sifu is more amazed by how many students he has trained and how well his students have done, not only in competitions, but also in their careers and personal lives. His students are his inspiration to continue to teach, and many have followed him for 10 years or more. At an early age Sifu Joe trained in Karate and Tae Kwon Do. The experience had a life changing impact and he eventually was able to begin training Kung Fu at the age of 16. He started with Wing Chun and Tai Chi.
At age 20, Sifu Joe joined the Lee Koon Hung Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu Association. He was very fortunate to study under Grandmaster Lee Koon Hung for a few years before Grandmaster’s untimely passing. Sifu Joe later helped to grow Grandmaster’s school and even opened a second location in Boynton Beach.
Sifu Joe was very successful as a competitor in forms, weapons and fighting. He is a two time Grand Champion and won against a Shaolin Monk at Tournament 2000. He also trained many amazing students who were very successful in competitions and on demonstration teams. Sifu Joe and his team developed new Lion Dances and performed on the Plum Flower posts up to 10 feet in the air, as well as having developed many exciting performances.
Through his good friend, Jim Farrar, Sifu developed a love for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Sifu Joe’s classmate, Sifu Paul Fraga, also coached him early on in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu & San Shou (full-contact), then later continued BJJ training with Black Belt Instructor Jim Farrar and his classmates. Then much of his training came from Black Belt Josh Manso of Gracie Jiu-jitsu. Sifu Joe was also fortunate to train under Rodrigo Mendes.
Sifu Joe has traveled the world helping to spread traditional Chinese Kung Fu and gaining many international students. Sifu Joe Keit also developed, produced and was the main demonstrator in several instructional videos on Choy Lay Fut. Sifu Joe met Master Chow Keung in the year 2000 and quickly developed a good friendship with him. Master Chow of the style “Tai Shing Pek Kwar” began teaching Sifu Joe Pek Kwar style. Since that time, Master Chow has passed on a wealth of knowledge to Sifu, and hopes Sifu Joe will pass on his skills.
Many of Grandmaster Lee Koon Hung’s students in Hong Kong have been an inspiration to Sifu Joe, and they helped him fine tune his skills.
Sifu Joe believes that training in the martial arts can be a great influence on people’s lives and great care should be given to choosing a school, as not all schools are the same. Everyone at Joe Keit Kung Fu is dedicated to providing the best experience, as well as coaching and mentoring to help people overcome any challenge in life… together as a Kung Fu family.
"Dai Sijeh" Rosalie Keit
Rosalie Keit gave herself a 50th birthday present in 1995 of beginning her Tai Chi training. She previously smoked 4 packs of cigarettes a day, and as her trining progressed she felt the side effects of smoking begin to digress. Now she rides her bicycle 10 miles 5 days a week currently at the age of 74! She participates in our school fitness kickboxing class (a lot of cardio) and she takes 0 medication.
Rosalie’s (aka Joma… Sifu Joe’s Ma) personality lights up the academy & she considers everyone here a part of her own family. Her smile and laugh are contagious & she is always here to help with anything! Rosalie Keit isn’t just “Joma” but like the whole schools ma!
"Dai Sihing" Jacob Isaacs
Jacob is the head instructor at Joe Keit Martial Arts and has been training since 2004 when he was 11 years old. His mother Liz introduced him to Kung Fu when his father passed away & she wanted a positive male figure in his life; from that point on Sifu Joe Keit has held his word when he told her “don’t worry I will be his family”.
He strongly believes in having a strict physical fitness regimen which has helped him achieve numerous championships in kung fu forms, weapons, and full contact fighting. He was a also member in one of the few lion dance team that preforms on the plum flower post 20ft in the air.
While continuing his training and going onto teaching he has found joy in being able to help so many students better themselves and become successful in life. Jacob has a passion for helping others, and is following in his Sifu’s footsteps in pursuing a career as a Fire Fighter / Paramedic where he can continue to help others and make an impact in lives as he does through his teachings.
Aside from his knowledge & training, his personality reflects in all that he does, from his motivation in class pushing you to be your best, to treating every member like family, and his famous catch phrases that everyone soon comes to learn (“this guy” / “hustle up”). Jacob is a key element to the Joe Keit Martial Arts Family & is loved by everyone at the academy.
